DEBRECEN

As the local government writes about the ”Calvinist Rome”: “Debrecen is one of the most vivid and cosiest nooks in Hungary: this city is a unique and outstanding whirlpool of a dynamic cultural and intellectual heritage and of an effective and successful economic life. The centuries’ old traditions and the most recent technical and scientific innovations enhancing each other make Debrecen a nationally and internationally renowned city.” (more)

BUDAPEST

If you have not been to Budapest, which is the 2nd best city tied with Florance and the 10th most photo-tagged city in the world (CNN news), we suggest spending minimum one full day there. It has several nice museums, historic Turkish baths, thermal spas and it is very beautiful to walk up to the Castle and see the panorama with the Parliament, both day and night (video). There are many other possibilities and you can get ideas from the webpage of Cityrama and Eurama Travel Agencies. CEWM 2015 participants can get a 20-25%discount from the first one and 15% discount from the second one. You can stay at a variety of hostels and hotels and CEWM 2015 participants get 10% discount from the actual prices in the Carlton**** and the President**** hotels (the 14th of July news: both hotels are full). We suggest booking airplane tickets and accommodation early because the Hungarian Formula One in Budapest will take place the same weekend.

HORTOBÁGY

If you are interested in birds or like unique landscapes and travel by car Hortobágy is a place to stop by and enjoy the famous Hungarian Puszta. You can do it if you come to Debrecen from Budapest not on M3 but on road 33.
